The Silence of the Lambs is a 1991 psychological horror film based on the 1988 novel of the same name by Thomas Harris. The film follows Clarice Starling, a young FBI trainee, as she seeks the advice of the imprisoned Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer, to catch another serial killer known as "Buffalo Bill". As their relationship develops, Lecter provides her insight into the killer's motives and modus operandi as well as his own twisted psychology. In the end, Clarice must confront Buffalo Bill in a thrilling and suspenseful climax. The film is acclaimed for its performances, direction, cinematography, writing, and atmosphere; it won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day is a 1991 science fiction action film directed by James Cameron and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong, and Robert Patrick. It is the sequel to Cameron's 1984 film The Terminator, and the second installment in the Terminator franchise. The film follows cyborg assassin, the Terminator (Schwarzenegger), as he is sent back in time to protect a young John Connor (Furlong) from a more advanced and sophisticated Terminator (Patrick). As the two Terminators fight, Sarah Connor (Hamilton) trains John to help him prepare for the future war against the artificial intelligence system Skynet. Meanwhile, John and the Terminator must contend with the human forces of the present that are trying to capture or kill them. Terminator 2: Judgment Day was a commercial and critical success and won four Academy Awards, including Best Visual Effects and Best Sound. It grossed over $520 million worldwide and is the highest-grossing film of the franchise, as well as one of the highest-grossing films of all time. It is also considered by many to be one of the greatest action films of all time.

The film follows novelist Paul Sheldon (Caan) after he is rescued from a car crash by an obsessive fan, Annie Wilkes (Bates). Wilkes forces Sheldon to write a novel for her, and tortures him when he does not follow her orders. As Sheldon attempts to escape, the two engage in an intense psychological battle. Ultimately, Sheldon manages to overcome Wilkes, and reclaim his freedom.
