The Sound of Music is a classic musical drama released in 1965 and directed by Robert Wise. It is based on the Broadway musical of the same name, which was based on the real-life story of the Von Trapp Family Singers. The film follows the story of Maria, a young woman sent to be a governess for the seven children of the widowed Austrian naval captain Georg Von Trapp. Maria brings music, joy and happiness to the Von Trapp household, as she falls in love with the captain. As World War II approaches, the family must escape to Switzerland to avoid the Nazis. They use their love of music to stay together and help them survive their journey. Along the way, they sing some of the most famous and beloved songs in movie history, including “My Favorite Things”, “Do-Re-Mi”, and “The Sound of Music”.
