As the winter progresses, the supernatural forces of the hotel become more and more powerful, leading to a terrifying climax.

Oskar soon discovers that Eli is a vampire, but this does not stop them from forming a strong bond. The film follows their relationship as they battle both their feelings and their outside enemies. In addition to the romantic story, the film also touches upon themes of friendship, loyalty, and the horrors of growing up.

Wilkes, a former nurse, takes him to her remote cabin to nurse him back to health. As Paul recovers, he realizes that Wilkes is mentally unstable, and is determined to keep him captive in order to keep him from leaving and publishing a book that she disagrees with. Paul struggles to find a way to escape Wilkes' grip, before she snaps completely and kills him.
