The Shining is a psychological horror film directed by Stanley Kubrick, released in 1980. He moves his wife Wendy (played by Shelley Duvall) and son Danny (played by Danny Lloyd) to the hotel to join him. As the months progress, the family slowly begins to unravel as Jack slowly descends into insanity, caused by a supernatural presence within the hotel. His increasingly erratic behavior puts his family in grave danger. With the help of a psychic boy named Danny, Wendy must battle Jack and the hotel's terrifying forces to save herself and her son from certain doom. The Shining is considered to be one of the greatest horror films of all time, due to its eerie atmosphere, intense performances, and unsettling visuals.

The Wicker Man (1973) is a British horror film directed by Robin Hardy.
