The Motorcycle Diaries is a 2004 biopic directed by Walter Salles. The film follows the young Ernesto “Che” Guevara and his friend Alberto Granado as they embark on an eight-month, 8,000km motorcycle journey across South America. The film follows the pair's journey from Argentina to Peru, with stops in Chile, Bolivia, and Venezuela. Along the way, the pair meet a variety of people from different backgrounds and cultures, and each interaction helps to shape the men's understanding of the world and their own place in it. Ultimately, the journey serves to fuel Ernesto's political awakening and his eventual transformation into the revolutionary icon known as “Che” Guevara.
