The Shining is a psychological horror film directed by Stanley Kubrick and starring Jack Nicholson. The film follows Jack Torrance, a recovering alcoholic and an aspiring writer, who takes a job as the winter caretaker of the isolated and eerie Overlook Hotel in the Colorado Rockies. He brings his wife Wendy and their young son Danny with him. Danny has "the shining," a psychic ability that allows him to see into the past and future. As the months in the hotel pass, Jack's mental state deteriorates as he becomes increasingly violent and delusional. Danny, meanwhile, uses his powers to confront the hotel's supernatural forces. As Jack's grip on reality fades and the hotel's menacing spirits take control, Danny and Wendy try desperately to escape Jack's madness and the hotel's sinister influence.

The Thing is a 1982 science fiction horror film directed by John Carpenter, based on the 1938 novella Who Goes There? by John W. Campbell. It stars Kurt Russell as R.J. MacReady, an American helicopter pilot in Antarctica who leads a group of scientists as they are confronted by a hostile alien life-form that can perfectly mimic and assimilate other organisms. As the team struggles to survive in the harsh Antarctic environment, they must also battle the alien, which gets more and more dangerous as it evolves and spreads. In the end, MacReady and the remaining survivors must determine who among them is still human and who is now a Thing.

However, things go wrong and the plan backfires, leading to a series of unexpected events that involve a pregnant police chief (Frances McDormand) and her investigation of the crime. In the end, Jerry must face the consequences of his actions. With its dark humor and memorable characters, "Fargo" is a critically acclaimed classic.
