WALL·E is a 2008 animated science fiction film set in a future where Earth has been abandoned by humans due to environmental degradation. Princess Mononoke is a 1997 animated fantasy war film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Set in Muromachi period in Japan, the film follows the story of Ashitaka, a young prince who is forced to leave his village after a demon attacks him. On his journey, he meets San, a human princess raised by wolves, and Lady Eboshi, a woman who runs a mining colony. Both San and Eboshi are locked in a struggle for control of the forest and its spiritual forces, with San and the animals on one side and Eboshi and her people on the other. As the conflict deepens, Ashitaka finds himself caught in the middle of the battle, which threatens the delicate balance of power of the forest. Through the help of his friends, Ashitaka is able to bring the warring sides together and find a way to restore peace to the forest.

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is an animated Japanese science fiction movie directed by Hayao Miyazaki and released in 1984. The movie follows a young princess, Nausicaä, from the peaceful Valley of the Wind, as she fights to save her world from the spread of an apocalyptic toxic jungle and the powerful forces of both the warring nations of the Doroks and the Pejites. With the help of her loyal people, Nausicaä embarks on an epic quest to discover the source of the devastating jungle and ultimately save the world. Along the way she encounters both friends and adversaries, learns about the hidden secrets of the world and discovers her own inner strength. In the end, Nausicaä must come to terms with her destiny and choose a path that will determine the fate of their world.

Avatar is a 2009 science fiction film directed, written, produced, and co-edited by James Cameron. Set in the future, it follows a paraplegic marine named Jake Sully who is sent to the distant Pandora planet to replace his deceased twin brother in order to control a remotely-controlled indigenous Na'vi humanoid body. He is tasked with infiltrating the Na'vi people to gather intel for the mining company he works for, but eventually falls in love with the tribe and their lush and beautiful world. He must choose between the human military forces that are attempting to mine Pandora’s resources, and the Na'vi people who are fighting to protect their home. In the end, Jake leads the Na'vi in a battle for their lives and discovers a powerful connection to Pandora and its inhabitants. The film was a box office success, earning over $2.78 billion in worldwide box office, becoming the highest-grossing film of all time.
