Tales of the Unexpected is a British anthology horror-suspense film directed by Graham Evans. The film consists of five short stories based on Roald Dahl's short stories of the same name. Each of the stories contains unexpected twists and turns that shock and surprise the audience. The first story, “Man From the South”, is about an old man and a young man who make a wager in which the young man stands to win a Cadillac if he can withstand the old man’s lighter ten times in a row. The second story, “Galloping Foxley”, is about a timid train guard who is terrorized by a hooded figure that rides a horse on the tracks. The third story, “The Landlady”, is about a young man who discovers that the sweet old lady who runs the bed and breakfast he is staying at is not as she seems. The fourth story, “Mrs. Bixby and the Colonel’s Coat”, is about a woman who must choose between her husband and her lover when she discovers a valuable coat that belonged to her late lover.
