Rain Man is a 1988 American road comedy-drama film directed by Barry Levinson and written by Barry Morrow and Ronald Bass. It tells the story of an abrasive, selfish young wheeler-dealer Charlie Babbitt (Tom Cruise), who discovers that his estranged father has died and bequeathed all of his multimillion-dollar estate to his other son, Raymond (Dustin Hoffman), an autistic savant. The film stars Cruise as Charlie, with Hoffman and Valeria Golino as his girlfriend, Susanna. The film was a huge critical and commercial success, grossing over $354 million worldwide and being the highest-grossing film of 1988. It won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor (Hoffman), and Best Director (Levinson). It also won three Golden Globes and was nominated for three more Oscars. The film follows Charlie as he discovers Raymond in an institution and they embark on a cross-country trip to Los Angeles to claim his inheritance. Along the way, the two brothers form a bond and Raymond helps Charlie to be more emotionally open and accepting of others. Charlie ultimately learns to accept Raymond's limitations and to appreciate him for the unique person he is

Rizwan's story is one of hope and courage, in the face of adversity, and the film ultimately shows that love and understanding can overcome even the most difficult circumstances.
