The Silence of the Lambs is a psychological thriller film directed by Jonathan Demme, based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Harris. It tells the story of Clarice Starling, a young FBI trainee who is on a mission to catch the serial killer known as "Buffalo Bill," and her relationship with the brilliant but sociopathic Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a former psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer, who is held in an asylum. With the help of Lecter, Clarice must outsmart Buffalo Bill and put a stop to his murderous rampage of kidnapping and skinning his victims. The Silence of the Lambs received five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress (Jodie Foster), and Best Actor (Anthony Hopkins).
