Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is an action-adventure comedy film directed by Gore Verbinski and released in 2003. The movie follows the story of Captain Jack Sparrow, a swashbuckling pirate who teams up with Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann to save her father and reclaim the pirate ship Black Pearl from the cursed pirate Barbossa. Along the way, the trio must battle the supernatural forces of the cursed crew of the Black Pearl, who are determined to reclaim their freedom and lift the curse. With the help of Jack's cunning and wit, the trio ultimately defeats their enemies and reclaim the Black Pearl.

It is a collection of eight animated shorts set to pieces of classical music conducted by Leopold Stokowski, seven of which are performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra. The film consists of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," "The Rite of Spring," "Dance of the Hours," "Night on Bald Mountain," "Ave Maria," "The Nutcracker Suite," "The Pastoral Symphony," and "Rite of Spring." The film was made in a creative collaboration between Disney and the Philadelphia Orchestra, with a cast of sound effects derived from nature and an innovative multiplane camera that created a uniquely stylized visual experience. Fantasia was a critical success upon its original release and remains an iconic classic of animation.
