300 (2006)

300 is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Frank Miller and is a retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC. In the film, King Leonidas of Sparta leads 300 of his best warriors to fight against an invading Persian army led by the God-King Xerxes of Persia. Although the Spartans are greatly outnumbered, they fight bravely and with skill and are able to hold off the Persians for three days. In the end, all 300 of the Spartans are killed, but their stand against the Persians is seen as a great victory and a symbol of courage and glory. The movie is visually stunning and uses a unique blend of live action and CGI to create an epic battle scene.
