Cast Away is the story of Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks), a FedEx systems engineer whose plane crashes and leaves him stranded on a deserted island. Battle Royale is a 2000 Japanese dystopian action film directed by Kinji Fukasaku. It is based on the 1999 novel of the same name by Koushun Takami. The film follows a group of junior high school students who are forced to fight each other to the death in a survival game, in order to prevent a major rebellion from occurring. The film is seen as a social commentary, as it portrays a brutal government killing off its own citizens in order to maintain control. The film has since become a cult classic, and has inspired numerous other films, television series, and novels.
