Battle Royale is a 2000 Japanese dystopian action film directed by Kinji Fukasaku. Godzilla is a 1954 Japanese science fiction kaiju film directed and co-written by Ishirō Honda. The film stars Takashi Shimura, Momoko Kōchi, and Akihiko Hirata. The film tells the story of a giant prehistoric monster, Godzilla, that rises from the water and ravages a city in Japan. The movie follows a group of scientists, a reporter, and an army officer as they attempt to stop the monster, eventually succeeding with the help of a new weapon, an Oxygen Destroyer. The movie was extremely successful in Japan, becoming the highest grossing movie of 1954. Its success spawned numerous sequels, remakes, spin-offs, and other versions of the monster, making Godzilla a cultural icon.
