Jaws is a 1975 American thriller film directed by Steven Spielberg and based on Peter Benchley's 1974 novel of the same name. It stars Roy Scheider as Police Chief Martin Brody, Richard Dreyfuss as oceanographer Matt Hooper, Robert Shaw as shark hunter Quint, and Lorraine Gary as Brody's wife, Ellen. In the film, a giant man-eating great white shark terrorizes the fictional island resort of Amity, Long Island. The police chief, a marine biologist, and a grizzled shark hunter attempt to track down the creature and destroy it. The film's success propelled the careers of both Spielberg and actor Dreyfuss and turned the previously unknown actor Scheider into a major star. It earned four Academy Awards in total, including Best Picture and Best Score. Jaws is often considered the first summer blockbuster and remains one of the highest-grossing films of all time when adjusted for inflation.

Wait Until Dark is a 1967 suspense thriller directed by Terence Young and starring Audrey Hepburn. As the criminals try to intimidate her and search her home, Susy must use her wits and limited resources to outsmart them and survive. With the help of her friend Sam (Alan Arkin), Susy must survive the game of cat-and-mouse and stay alive until dark in order to save herself.

As the family's lives become increasingly threatened by the mysterious forces in the house, Grace is forced to confront her fears and uncover the dark secrets of the house. Ultimately, she learns the truth behind the haunting and the unexpected consequences of her investigation.

The Abbott family, led by Lee (Krasinski) and Evelyn (Blunt), live in complete silence to avoid being killed by the aliens. They must rely on sign language to communicate and carefully plan their every move to survive. The family must also contend with the fact that Evelyn is pregnant, adding to the tension and fear of being discovered. As the family struggles to survive in silence, they must find a way to confront the creatures and save their future.
