The Fly (1986)

The Fly is a horror sci-fi movie from 1986 directed by David Cronenberg. It follows the story of Seth Brundle, a scientist who is attempting to perfect his teleportation device. After several failed attempts, he finally succeeds in teleporting himself, but during the process an ordinary housefly enters the machine with him and the two become fused together into a grotesque human-fly hybrid. Brundle is slowly transformed into a monstrous creature and eventually must battle with his own human side to take control of his monstrous form. As the film progresses, Brundle's transformation takes an even darker turn as he begins to lose his humanity and succumb to his animalistic instincts. The Fly is an effective horror film that uses a combination of science fiction and psychological horror to explore the consequences of unchecked ambition.
