CIA analyst Jack Ryan (Alec Baldwin) is tasked with uncovering the truth of Ramius's intentions, while the Soviets, led by political officer Vasili Borodin (Sam Neill), pursue the ship in order to bring it back. With the help of his crew and assistance from the United States Navy, Ramius manages to evade the Soviets and reach American waters, though their pursuit continues. The film follows Ryan and the US Navy as they attempt to protect the Red October and its crew, while also trying to decipher Ramius's true intentions and prevent a nuclear disaster. The Hunt for Red October is an acclaimed and thrilling action-espionage film, and has become a classic of the genre.
