Dogville is a 2003 drama film written and directed by the Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier. Set in an abandoned rural mountain town in the Rocky Mountains, the film tells the story of a young woman named Grace (played by Nicole Kidman) who arrives in the town seeking refuge from gangsters. The residents of Dogville agree to hide her in exchange for her work. As time passes, the townspeople’s sense of morality wavers, and eventually their cruel actions towards Grace lead to a chaotic climax. The film also features an ensemble cast including Lauren Bacall, Paul Bettany, Stellan Skarsgård, Udo Kier, and James Caan. The film was nominated for a Palme d'Or at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival.
