Dogville is a 2003 Danish-Swedish-French drama film written and directed by Lars von Trier. The film stars Nicole Kidman, Lauren Bacall, Paul Bettany, Chloë Sevigny, and Stellan Skarsgård. Set in the 1930s, the film tells the story of a woman named Grace (Kidman) who arrives in the small town of Dogville, Colorado, seeking shelter from gangsters who are pursuing her. The film is shot in an experimental style with sparse sets and a voice-over narration. It received critical acclaim upon release, with praise for its writing, direction, and performances. However, it divided opinion among audiences, who found its length and pacing to be off-putting. From Steve McQueen, starring Stuart Graham, Laine Megaw, Brian Milligan, Liam McMahon
Rated Not Rated

Hunger is a 2008 British-Irish drama film directed by Steve McQueen and written by Enda Walsh. The film stars Michael Fassbender as Bobby Sands, an Irish Republican Army (IRA) member who led the 1981 hunger strike in which Irish republican prisoners protested against the refusal of the British government to recognize them as political prisoners. Through the story of Sands, the film explores the harsh reality of life in the Maze Prison during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. The film follows Sands' path from his participation in an armed robbery to his imprisonment and the subsequent hunger strike that resulted in his death. It depicts the brutality of prison guards and their indifference to the prisoners' hunger strike, as well as the solidarity among the prisoners and the strong support that Sands and the other hunger strikers had from family and friends outside the prison. The film also examines the dynamics between the prisoners and their families, as well as Sands' conflicted relationship with Catholic clergy.
