Becket is a 1964 British-American historical drama directed by Peter Glenville and starring Richard Burton and Peter O'Toole. The story follows King Henry II of England (O'Toole) and his close friend, Thomas Becket (Burton), during the tumultuous reign of King Henry II. When the King appoints Becket as the Archbishop of Canterbury, their friendship is tested and Becket must choose between loyalty to the King or loyalty to God. The film explores themes of friendship, power, and faith, as Becket is forced to make a difficult decision between his loyalty to his King and his loyalty to God. The film also features a strong performance by O'Toole, and is widely regarded as one of the best films of the 1960s.

A Man for All Seasons is a 1966 British historical drama film directed by Fred Zinnemann, adapted from Robert Bolt's play of the same name. The film follows the story of Sir Thomas More, a 16th-century English lawyer, philosopher, and statesman who opposed King Henry VIII's attempt to divorce Catherine of Aragon in order to marry Anne Boleyn. It is the story of More's refusal to accept King Henry as Supreme Head of the Church of England and the consequences that follow. The film stars Paul Scofield, Wendy Hiller, Leo McKern, Robert Shaw, John Hurt, and Orson Welles, among others. The film was critically acclaimed and a box office success, winning six Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Actor for Scofield's performance. Additionally, it was nominated for five BAFTAs, and four Golden Globe Awards. It is widely considered to be one of the greatest films of all time.
