The Legend of 1900 is a 1998 Italian drama film directed by Giuseppe Tornatore. Set in the first half of the 20th century, the movie tells the story of a baby boy who is found on a boat and is believed to be the child of a wealthy American couple. Raised by the ship's crew, he is given the name 1900 and grows up to be an extraordinary piano prodigy. As he matures, 1900's extraordinary musical talent leads him to great fame as a pianist, but he also isolates himself, refusing to leave the boat. When a young American woman, who also happens to be a piano player, joins the crew, 1900 is forced to confront his past, his future, and his own feelings.
