The Hurt Locker is a 2008 war film directed by Kathryn Bigelow. It is set in Iraq during the Iraq War and stars Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, and Brian Geraghty. The film follows an elite team of Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) soldiers who have the job of disarming bombs in the dangerous streets of Baghdad. The team is led by the maverick Staff Sergeant William James (Jeremy Renner), who is seen as a loose cannon by his fellow soldiers due to his reckless and seemingly foolhardy approach to his job. As the film progresses, the team is exposed to more and more danger as the enemy continues to lay bombs and the team tries to disarm them. The film follows the team as they battle not only enemy forces but also the psychological toll of being exposed to life-threatening danger on a daily basis. In the end, the team is forced to face the reality of their situation and how it has affected them and their lives.
