Amadeus is a 1984 period drama directed by Miloš Forman and based on the life and work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The film follows the life of the young Mozart as he is taken under the tutelage of the court composer Antonio Salieri, who quickly comes to resent the young genius' talent and potential. As Mozart's fame and influence grows, Salieri becomes increasingly jealous and desperate to outshine him, leading to a vicious rivalry between the two composers. The film presents its story through flashbacks, with Salieri narrating the events of Mozart's life as he reflects upon his own life and career. It also features some of Mozart's most famous compositions, including pieces from The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, and The Magic Flute.
