Midnight Run is a 1988 American action comedy film starring Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin. The film follows a bounty hunter, Jack Walsh (De Niro), as he attempts to bring a former mob accountant, Jonathan "The Duke" Mardukas (Grodin), to Los Angeles alive and collect a large reward. Along the way, the two must contend with both the mob and the FBI, as well as their own bickering and personal differences. As their journey progresses, they become unlikely friends and find themselves in situations that test their abilities, loyalty, and courage.

The film follows William Blake, a recently-fired accountant from Cleveland, Ohio, as he travels west to the town of Machine, where he is hired as a bookkeeper. Along the way, Blake finds himself hunted by a wide assortment of enemies, including a gang of murderous bounty hunters and their leader, John Dickinson. He also meets a Native American companion, Nobody, who helps him on his journey. As they travel, Neither Blake nor Nobody can escape their pasts and the various forces that seek to capture or kill them. Ultimately, they must confront their own mortality as they journey towards an uncertain fate. Overall, the movie is a unique blend of Western and metaphysical themes, filled with dark humor and a somber tone.
