Dead Alive (1992) is a cult classic horror-comedy directed by Peter Jackson. The film follows Lionel, an awkward and meek young man who lives with his overbearing mother. When his mother is bitten by a Sumatran rat-monkey, she slowly begins to transform into a zombie. In order to keep her from spreading the zombie plague, Lionel must fight off the hordes of the undead that his mother has created.
