Coraline (2009) is a stop-motion animated dark fantasy film directed by Henry Selick, based on Neil Gaiman's novel of the same name. The film follows a young girl named Coraline who discovers a secret door in her family's new home that transports her to a parallel world with "other" versions of her parents and other inhabitants, who want her to stay and be their daughter. The Other World appears to be ideal and more exciting than Coraline’s real life, but it quickly turns sinister when Coraline discovers the truth of the world and its inhabitants. Coraline is forced to face her fears and ultimately defeat the Other Mother in order to protect both worlds and reunite with her real parents. With the help of a talking cat and a friendly ghost, Coraline must bravely confront her own demons and find a way to save her family and the souls of her alternate world.

Dead of Night is a 1945 British horror anthology film, directed by Alberto Cavalcanti, Charles Crichton, Basil Dearden and Robert Hamer. It stars Mervyn Johns and Googie Withers as guests in a country home, and features a series of tales of the supernatural. The stories feature ghosts, a ventriloquist's dummy, and a nightmare that may be real. The stories are linked by the presence of a mysterious man who appears to be a ghost. The film culminates with a twist ending that reveals the truth behind the mysterious figure. The film is widely regarded as one of the best horror films of all time and has been influential on later filmmakers.
