The Big Short is a 2015 American biographical comedy-drama film directed by Adam McKay. It stars Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, and Melissa Leo. The film is based on the 2010 book The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine by Michael Lewis about the financial crisis of 2007–08 which was triggered by the United States housing bubble. The film centers around four outsiders in the world of high-finance who predict the credit and housing bubble collapse of the mid-2000s and decide to take on the big banks for their greed and lack of foresight. The film follows the lives of the main characters as they make an incredible amount of money and share in the anxiety of whether their shorting the market will pay off. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Bale, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Editing.

Omar is a Palestinian drama directed by Hany Abu-Assad. The film follows the life of Omar, a young Palestinian man living in the occupied West Bank. He and his two friends, Amjad and Tarek, routinely risk their lives to scale the separation wall to carry out acts of resistance against the occupying Israeli forces. When Omar is arrested and falsely accused of collaborating with the Israelis, the trio must work together to prove his innocence. The film explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the struggles of life in an occupied territory. As the three friends navigate the moral complexities of their situation, they must ultimately decide if their friendship can survive the ultimate test.
