Dick short story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" and tells the story of a construction worker who discovers he is actually a secret agent and goes on a mission to Mars. On Mars, he discovers a civilization threatened by a dictator and must use his wits and fighting skills to stop the dictator and save the planet. Throughout the film, Schwarzenegger's character Doug Quaid is constantly trying to figure out the truth behind his identity and his mission. In the end, he triumphs and is reunited with his wife, Lori. Total Recall is known for its action-packed scenes, special effects, and twist ending. It was a commercial success, becoming one of the most successful films of 1990, and is widely considered a classic in the science fiction genre.
