The Little Mermaid is a 1989 Disney animated musical fantasy film based on the Danish fairy tale of the same name. The film tells the story of Ariel, a mermaid princess, who dreams of becoming human after falling in love with a human prince. The film follows Ariel's journey as she strikes a deal with the sea witch Ursula to become human and marry her beloved prince. Along the way, Ariel must battle Ursula's schemes, and convince her father to allow her to pursue her dreams. The Little Mermaid was the last Disney animated musical film of the Disney Renaissance era and features musical numbers with classic Disney songs such as "Part of Your World" and "Under the Sea".
