The story follows scientist Kris Kelvin who is sent to a space station orbiting the mysterious planet Solaris, which appears to be a living being with the power to manifest people's innermost thoughts and desires. On the station, Kelvin discovers that the crew has been driven mad by the manifestations, and that his own dead wife has been conjured up by the planet. He ultimately struggles to come to terms with his own guilt and regret over her death and the choices he has made since then. Solaris is an exploration of love, guilt, faith, and memory, and its profound themes have made it one of the most influential sci-fi films of all time.
