The Time Machine is a 1960 American science fiction film based on the 1895 novel of the same name by H. G. Wells. The film was directed by George Pal and stars Rod Taylor as the time traveler known as The Time Traveller. The film follows the Time Traveller's adventures to a future world where humans have been divided into two species, the lovely Eloi and the subterranean Morlocks who keep the Eloi as their food source. In order to save the Eloi, the Time Traveller must battle the Morlocks and repair his time machine so that he can return to his own time. Along the way, he discovers the truth behind the strange new species and uncovers the long-lost secrets of his own past.
